A Comparative Study of Sensory, Upper Limb Function and Daily Living Activities on Proprioceptive Feedback with Action Observation Training in Chronic Stroke Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: This study was to investigate effect of proprioceptive feedback combined with action observation training on sensory, upper limb function and activities of daily living (ADLs) in chronic stroke patients.
Methods: This study was conducted after randomly classifying 26 inpatients into 13 patients in the experimental group who performed proprioceptive feedback with action observation training and 13 patients in the control group, which only received proprioceptive feedback. As evaluation methods, upper limb sensory test, Fugl-Meyer Assessmsnt (FMA), and Modified Barthel Index (MBI) were used.
Results: In the comparison of sensory, upper limb function and ADLs before and after intervention in the experimental group, there were significant differences in proprioception, FMA, and MBI (p<.05). In the control group, significant differences were shown in FMA (p<.05). And in comparison between the experimental group and the control group, there was a significant difference in proprioception (p<.05).
Conclusion: This study will promote sensory and upper extremity functions in chronic stroke patients and help them perform ADLs.
